VistaSoft 4.0 and VisionX 4.0

VistaSoft 4.0 and VisionX 4.0 are dental imaging software that run on user-provided PCs and allow dentists to acquire, display, edit, view, store, print, and distribute 2D and 3D dental images. The software works with previously cleared digital image capture devices and is used by authorized healthcare professionals for filter optimization, image analysis, and forwarding images to third-party software.

The new version adds three key features compared to VisionX 3.0: image filter operations and annotations, an interface to VistaSoft Cloud Drive, and cybersecurity enhancements. The indications for use remain the same; the software is still intended for dental diagnosis and management on user-provided PC-compatible computers utilizing cleared image capture devices.

Development followed FDA Guidance Documents on Device Software Functions and Cybersecurity in Medical Devices. Consensus standards applied include ISO 14971 (risk management), IEC 62304 (software lifecycle), IEC 82304-1 (health software safety), IEC 81001-5-1 (health IT safety and security), IEC 62366-1 (usability engineering), and ISO 15223-1 (medical device symbols).

The predicate VisionX 3.0 is a dental image management system with the same intended use and regulatory classification. Although VisionX 4.0/VistaSoft 4.0 adds new software features (filters, cloud interface, cybersecurity), these are enhancements to image display, storage, and security functions rather than changes to the fundamental purpose or risk profile. The software still relies on previously cleared image capture devices and is restricted to dental professionals for diagnosis support, preserving substantial equivalence with the predicate's intended use and indications.
